Post-purchase and thank-you page upsells on Wix

A post-purchase upsell is an offer shown after the shopper has paid, on the order confirmation (thank-you) page. Bumps adds one to Wix Stores, between the order items and the shipping details. Wix does not let apps add items to an order that is already placed, so accepting puts the item in a new cart with the discount applied, and the shopper completes a separate checkout.

How it works on Wix

1. The shopper pays and lands on the Wix thank-you page.
2. Bumps shows one offer there: a product photo, a headline, the discount, and an "Add to cart" button.
3. One tap adds the product to a new cart with the discount applied, and the button reads "Added: see in cart". The page does not redirect.
4. The shopper opens the cart and checks out again. The item ships separately from the first order.

Why it is a separate checkout

Wix's thank-you page loads after checkout is complete, and Wix gives apps no way to add items to a placed order. A thank-you offer on Wix is therefore a second purchase, not an addition to the first, and Bumps words it that way: the button says "Add to cart", never "Add to this order". The discount is a coupon for that product, applied to the new cart automatically, and it holds for one hour.

If you want an add-on to join the order the shopper is placing, offer it before payment instead, as an order bump at checkout or in the side cart.

When the offer shows

• After every order, for the share of shoppers you roll it out to. Thank-you offers use no other triggers or schedules.
• Never for a product already in the order, one that needs the shopper to pick options, or one that is out of stock.
• With an optional discount from 1% to 90%.

What to offer after purchase

• Something they will need again: a refill, a filter, another bag of beans.
• A match for what they just bought: the case, the stand, the second colour.
• Something that travels well alone, since it arrives in its own parcel.

Seeing what it earned

A purchase counts toward the offer when the shopper buys the item within 72 hours. The Bumps dashboard shows each offer's views, accepts and revenue.

How do I add an upsell to the Wix thank-you page?

1. Install Bumps from the Wix App Market.
2. In Wix's Manage Apps, click Complete Setup next to Bumps. Wix opens your site in the Editor and adds every Bumps spot, the thank-you page included.
3. Create a thank-you page upsell, pick the product and, if you like, a discount.
4. Set it to Active and publish your site.
