Order bumps for Wix Stores
An order bump is a small add-on offered while the shopper is already buying: gift wrap, a warranty, a matching item. Bumps adds order bumps to Wix Stores in three places, at checkout, in the side cart and on the product page, and one tap puts the item in the real Wix cart with any discount already applied.
Does Wix have order bumps built in?
No. Wix Stores has no built-in order bumps, upsells or cross-sells in the cart or at checkout; Wix's own help center lists them as a feature request. You add them with an app from the Wix App Market. Bumps installs as native Wix Site Plugins, so there is no theme code to paste.
Where order bumps appear on Wix
| Where | What the shopper sees | How they accept |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout | A checkbox row such as "Add premium gift wrap, +$5.00", unticked until they choose it | Tick the box. The item goes straight into the checkout. |
| Side cart | A product card in the cart's line items | Tap "Add to cart", or "No thanks" |
| Product page | A matching-product card under the buy button | Tap Add. The item joins the cart as its own line, with an optional quantity picker. |
Cart bumps need Wix's side cart. Wix gives apps no slot on the full cart page, so if your store sends shoppers to a cart page, set the cart icon to open the side cart instead. The help page shows how.
Can I add a cart upsell without a coupon code?
Yes. In the side cart, a Bumps cart bump is a product card with an "Add to cart" button. Accepting it adds the product as its own cart line with the discount already applied by an automatic Wix discount rule, so the shopper never types a code and the coupon box stays free for their own. Wix allows one coupon per order, so this matters most for stores that run coupon promotions.
How the discount works
No. When a shopper accepts an offer, Bumps adds the product to their real Wix cart as a normal line item and applies the discount server-side, either as an automatic Wix discount rule or as a coupon the app mints and applies for them. There is no code to copy, no code box to find, and no bounce back to the product page. Bumps also verifies the item actually landed in the cart before it shows the shopper a success state.
A bump can carry no discount at all, or up to 90% off on the side cart and product page. Checkout bumps are capped at 50% off.
What makes a good order bump
- It completes the order. Gift wrap on a gift, a refill with the device, a case with the phone.
- It is an easy yes. Priced well below the order itself, so it needs no second thought.
- It gets seen. Bumps ships loud by default, because an offer nobody notices never converts. A Minimal look that matches your store is available, and it usually converts worse.
If a shopper taps "No thanks", Bumps can follow with a second-chance offer at a deeper discount you set. You can also show a bump only for certain products or cart values, and on the Growth plan, by device or customer segment.
Order bump, upsell, cross-sell: what's the difference?
- Order bump: a small add-on offered during the purchase and accepted in one tap, like gift wrap at checkout.
- Upsell: an offer to buy more or trade up, like a bigger bundle or a volume discount.
- Cross-sell: a related product, like the mug that goes with the coffee.
- Post-purchase upsell: an offer made after payment, on the thank-you page. See post-purchase upsells on Wix.
Set one up
- Install Bumps from the Wix App Market. It places itself on the right storefront spots.
- Create an offer from a template, such as a cart bump or checkout bump, and pick the product it adds.
- Set the offer to Active, then publish your site. Wix only serves the published version.
Will it slow or break my checkout?
No to both. Bumps renders as a Wix Site Plugin inside the checkout page rather than sitting in front of it, and an offer draws nothing at all until its own data has resolved, so it is never in the path between a shopper and the Pay button. And it is designed to fail silent: if anything is off, the offer simply does not appear. It never blocks checkout and never removes items from the cart.
