Help & troubleshooting
Everything you need after you install. Stuck? Email support@bumpshq.com and we'll reply within a business day.
Getting started
- Install from the Wix App Market. Bumps adds itself to your site and places its widget on the right surfaces for you.
- Create an offer. Open Bumps from your Wix dashboard and pick a type: a cart or checkout bump, a product-page add-on, a volume bundle, a post-purchase upsell, and more. Choose the product or reward it adds.
- Make it Active. A new offer starts as a draft. Flip it to Active when you're happy with it.
- Publish your site. Wix only serves the last published version of your site, so hit Publish in your editor once and the bump goes live.
Then add a product to your cart and open it. Your bump should appear. If it doesn't, work down the list below.
My bump isn't showing
Almost always it's one of these, roughly in order of how often it's the culprit:
- You haven't published since setting it up. This is the number-one cause. Everything in the Wix editor, including placing Bumps, only goes live when you click Publish. Publish, then check the live store (not the editor preview).
- The offer isn't Active. Only Active offers render. Open Bumps and switch it from Draft/Paused to Active.
- "Pause all bumps" is on. There's a master switch in Settings that turns every offer off at once. If nothing shows anywhere, check it's off.
- Cart bumps only show in the side cart, not on a full cart page. Wix only lets apps add to the checkout, the side cart, and the thank-you page. There's no slot on a full cart page. If your store sends shoppers to a cart page, cart bumps have nowhere to appear. In the Wix editor, set your cart icon to "Show side cart" and your product page's Add-to-Cart button to "Open side cart", then Publish. That one change unlocks all three cart surfaces at once (the header bar, the card in the line items, and the slider by the customer details).
- The widget isn't placed on that surface yet. Bumps auto-adds its widget on install, but on some sites it lands the first time you open your editor. The dashboard's Activate card shows exactly which spots are placed vs missing. Add any missing one there, then Publish.
- Testing on your own store and never see it? New offers can roll out to a slice of shoppers first, and your own browser is stably in or out of that slice, so refreshing won't change it. Use "Preview on your store" to see it regardless, or set the offer's rollout to 100%.
- The shopper doesn't meet the offer's trigger. If you limited it to a specific product, cart value, or device, it stays hidden until those are met (and triggers stack: all must be true). Loosen the trigger, or add an "Always show" trigger, to test.
- The product it adds can't be shown. Bumps hides an offer whose product is out of stock, hidden, or deleted, so a shopper never sees an Add they can't complete. Point it at an in-stock, visible product. (A few product types do show the bump but only fail at the tap; see "A shopper tapped Add…" below.)
- You're looking at a cached page. Hard-refresh, or open your store in a private/incognito window.
Still stuck? Email support@bumpshq.com with your store URL and the surface you expected the bump on, and we'll find it.
A shopper tapped Add, but nothing was added
If a bump shows and the shopper taps Add but the item never lands, the product the offer adds is one Wix can't add in a single tap. The usual culprits:
- A subscription-only or members-only product, or one that requires a modifier/option the bump can't ask for.
- An item that sold out after the page loaded: in stock when the bump appeared, gone by the time they tapped.
Here's the trap: Wix accepts the tap and reports success even when the cart didn't actually change, so many upsell apps flash a fake "Added" the shopper believes. Bumps doesn't: it verifies the item really landed in the cart before confirming. When it didn't, the shopper sees "This item isn't available: nothing was added to your cart," and their checkout is never blocked. (A genuine network blip shows "Couldn't add this to your cart. Please try again" instead, since a retry might work.)
Fix: point the offer at a straightforward, in-stock product that isn't subscription-only or members-only and carries no required modifier. For products with size or colour options, the bump shows an option picker so the shopper chooses before adding. That's expected, not a failure.
Where bumps can appear
- Side cart: a header bar, a card in the line items, and a slider by the customer details. (Needs the cart icon set to open the side cart; see above.)
- Checkout: a card in the summary, a cross-sell, an optional fee, and a progress bar.
- Product page: a complementary-product card and a "frequently bought together" row.
- Thank-you page: a post-purchase upsell after the order is placed.
Billing & plans
Bumps is billed through Wix, on the same account that runs your site: no separate checkout, no second card, no invoice from us. Bumps costs $0, $9.99 or $39.99 a month, flat: never a cut of your sales, never a per-order fee. No meters and no per-view fees either. The Free plan is free forever: one live offer, on every surface and every offer type, at full quality. The starter offer Bumps sets up when you install doesn't use that slot. Paid plans add more live offers and the optimization tools; see pricing for the tiers. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel any time from the Bumps page in your Wix dashboard.
Is it safe? Will it slow my store?
Bumps never blocks checkout. It only adds optional items to an order, so if anything ever fails your shopper checks out normally. It shows no ads and takes no cut of your sales. And it uninstalls clean: remove Bumps and every offer stops serving immediately.
It's showing, but not converting
Bumps ships loud by default (a sticker, a solid button, a small entrance animation) because a bump nobody notices never converts. If you switched an offer to match your store (stealth), that's usually the reason: a quiet, blend-in bump typically converts worse, and we warn you when you pick it. Try loud, put the offer at a real buying moment (the side cart or checkout), give it a genuinely complementary product, and let it gather a few hundred impressions before you judge it.
Common questions
Does the shopper pay again to accept a bump?
Not for bumps on the product page, in the side cart or at checkout: accepting adds the item to the order they're already placing. A thank-you-page offer is different. That order is already placed and Wix doesn't let apps add to it, so the item goes into a new cart with the discount applied, and the shopper completes a separate checkout.
What happens if I uninstall?
Every offer stops serving immediately and your storefront goes back to how it was. Your offers, settings and performance history are kept for 90 days, so reinstalling within that window restores them instead of starting from zero.
Do I need to touch code or my theme?
No. Bumps places its own widget through Wix's app slots. There's no snippet to paste and nothing to edit in your theme.
Can I match my brand?
Yes. Use your brand colour and font, or let each offer type wear its own accent. "Use my brand colours" keeps the loud, high-converting mechanics; only stealth mode turns them off.
Does it optimize on its own?
When several proven offers compete for the same spot, Bumps sends more traffic to the better converter while still testing the others. A brand-new offer added next to an established one waits until you archive the established one, so it never takes traffic from an offer that's already working. No fake urgency, no dark patterns. Inside a single offer's A/B test, auto-promote is on by default: once one version is clearly ahead, it gets all of that offer's traffic and you get a notification. Switch auto-promote off in Settings if you'd rather promote winners yourself.
